India being a federal polity,1 the Constitution of India [“Constitution”] divides the legislative powers (apart from other things) between the Indian Parliament [“Parliament”] and State Legislative Assemblies [“Assemblies”]. Chapter I of Part XI of the Constitution contains elaborate provisions for regulating the legislative relations between the Parliament and the Assemblies.
